Dear State Volunteer,
Congratulations and thank you for joining DreamRise Fest 2026 as a State Volunteer! Your passion for nurturing the next generation of Nigerian leaders is what will make this festival a transformative success.
As a State Volunteer, you are the bridge between your local community and this national platform. You will help mobilize thousands of children aged 8–17, ensuring that voices from every corner of Nigeria are heard, celebrated, and empowered.
This handbook outlines your roles, responsibilities, expectations, timelines, support structure, and the impact you will help create. Please read it carefully and refer to it throughout your volunteer journey.
1. About DreamRise Fest 2026
DreamRise Fest is Nigeria’s largest month-long children’s empowerment festival taking place throughout May 2026, culminating in a Grand National Children’s Day Celebration on May 27, 2026 in Abuja.
The festival focuses on five key themes:
- Entrepreneurship & Career Discovery
- Civic Innovation & Social Impact
- Technology, Science & Innovation
- Arts, Culture & Creativity
- Leadership & Governance
Our goal: Directly engage and empower 5,000+ children nationwide, with lasting impact through mentorship and the DreamRise Hub.
2. Your Role as a State Volunteer
You are our representative in your state. Your primary responsibility is to ensure strong, inclusive participation from children across diverse backgrounds (urban, rural, public/private schools, underserved communities).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Child Mobilization
- Target: Register and mobilize at least 500 children (aged 8–17) from your state.
- Identify and partner with schools, community centers, religious organizations, NGOs, orphanages, and youth groups.
- Promote virtual and onsite participation opportunities.
- Ensure diversity and inclusion (gender balance, children from low-income families, rural areas, children with disabilities where feasible).
2. Local Administrative Support
- Collect and verify registration data (names, ages, consent forms from parents/guardians).
- Coordinate local awareness campaigns (flyers, social media, community announcements).
- Assist selected children with travel logistics to Abuja (where applicable).
3. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build relationships with key local players: school principals, local government officials, traditional leaders, media, and community influencers.
- Secure local permissions, venues for awareness events, or in-kind support if needed.
4. Festival Support in Abuja (May 2026)
- Travel to Abuja to support onsite activities (e.g., child supervision, facilitation, logistics).
- Help ensure children from your state feel welcomed, safe, and engaged.
5. Reporting & Communication
- Submit weekly progress reports via designated channels (WhatsApp group/Google Forms).
- Share success stories, photos (with consent), and challenges.
3. What We Expect from You
- Commitment: 10–20 hours per month from January to May 2026, with increased effort in April–May.
- Passion & Professionalism: Treat all children, parents, and partners with respect, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity.
- Availability for Abuja Travel: Mandatory for selected volunteers (May 2026, approximately 1 week).
- Child Safeguarding: Strictly adhere to LCF’s Child Protection Policy (provided upon selection). No unsupervised one-on-one contact, always prioritize safety.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other state volunteers, expert volunteers, and the central team.
4. Volunteer Terms
- This is a volunteer role without salary.
- Stipends will be provided where necessary to cover:
- Communication costs (data/airtime)
- Local transportation for mobilization
- Travel to/from Abuja (transport, accommodation, feeding during the festival period)
- Stipends are reimbursement-based; receipts may be required.
- All volunteers will receive:
- Official DreamRise Fest volunteer certificate
- Branded T-shirt and ID badge
- Networking opportunities with national leaders and organizations
- Letter of recommendation upon successful completion

- Central Coordination Team: Dedicated WhatsApp group and monthly Zoom calls.
- Training: Online sessions on mobilization strategies, child safeguarding, data collection, and festival overview.
- Materials: Digital posters, registration templates, consent forms, promotional videos, and guidelines.
- Mentorship: Direct access to LCF team for guidance and problem-solving.
7. Code of Conduct
- Represent the Lola Cater Foundation and DreamRise Fest positively at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of children’s information.
- No political or religious bias in mobilization.
- Report any concerns immediately to the State Volunteer Coordinator.
- Use official channels for communication and branding.
